DIY VINTAGE GARDEN PEACH WEDDING IDEAS

We LOVE this from WEDDING CHICKS!

This feature is entirely staged! And is actually an un-wedding. Utah wedding vendors Peter Loves Jane and Ella Bella Floral & Event Planning came up with the idea to host an event that had all the elements of a wedding, but was not really a wedding at all. An affair to inspire brides, let vendors show off their talents and basically host the wedding of their dreams.
With a plethora of vendors including five photographers, there is plenty of eye-candy to check out

During the real brainstorming sessions, they realized that they were going to have a tough time narrowing down their ideas into a single event concept, so they decided to pass the decision on to their blog readers. First, they collected a number of style boards, uploaded them to their blog, and asked readers to vote for their favorite. It was close race for a number of days, and the garden style board pulled ahead at the last minute. With vintage style board being such a close second, we opted to let vintage styling influence the garden wedding. Next, they collected some of their favorite color inspiration boards and put them up for voting. Not surprising the colors of nudes, blush and peach hues won by landslide.

Tons of peach florals, fancy cakes and diy projects that we know you will love.
The wooden crates that were stacked on the sides of the draperies were  very inexpensive, easy and added that earthy element to the garden style wedding. These were  found at local antique stores for less than $10 each. They were stacked, with   flowers  and photos of the couple on them. We love that they can be re-purposed after the wedding. They can become wall-mounted shelves, end tables, a coffee table; the possibilities are as endless as your imagination or what you can find on Pinterest!
One of our  favorite features of this wedding was the pallet stage. It was about as inexpensive and easy as could be. The pallets were purchased from a local pallet building company. Making sure they were sturdy and not falling apart, for $3 each. To assemble the stage, the pallets were simply laid 4 of them on top of a section of felt on the floor and then stacked 2 more on the center seam. They were secured with screws for peace of mind.  The company even refunded the money when they were returned!  So it really cost nothing!
A currently popular DIY element is the lace lanterns. The lanterns are made by overlapping lace doilies on an inflated balloon and brushing fabric stiffener (or wallpaper glue, or even white glue) onto the doilies. Be sure to cover it completely so that the whole thing hardens and you aren’t left with limp spots. Let the doilies dry overnight to ensure that they are completely dry. The last step is to pop the balloon and pull it out of the opening. The lanterns can be hung with a ribbon or fishing line draped with strands of beads, as was done for this event.

DO IT YOURSELF YARN BOTTLES

.

We love the idea of using a yarn wrapped bottle for your DIY arrangements!  Not only are they cost effective, but it also adds a heartwarming and colorful rustic touch to your table decor. Read on to learn how to diy yarn wrapped bottles.
Read on for step by step instructions from Mayhar Designs on how to DIY Yarn Wrapped Bottles.
1. Starting at the top of your bottle, apply a tiny dab of hot glue, just under the edge. Press your yarn into the glue horizontally, leaving a tail-end. Point the tail-end downward and start wrapping…as you wrap you will hide the end! You will want each layer of yarn to rest closely to the next, without any room in between. Try playing with different tensions to see what works best.
2. When you get to the curve, you may need to ease up slightly on the tension, or apply small dabs of glue to the bottle to hold the yarn in place, depending on the angle that the bottle curves outward.
3. Continue down the bottle until you reach the bottom. Apply another small dab of glue along the base, and once the yarn is set, snip the end.
4. This method will create a clean and smooth look. For a less symmetric, more organic look, let your yarn overlap and bunch up in various directions.
5. These bottles will look great in various shades, adding color to your kitchen table or bookshelves, OR you can quickly turn them into your own custom flower vase!
6. The opening to your bottle will likely be small, so you can create your own arrangement with just a few stems. I love to use a couple of stems that act as filler and then select one or two beautiful flowers to add a pop of color.
7. For the arrangement pictured, we used an assortment of yellow solidago and peach hypericum berries as filler. They create the height and dimension for your arrangement. Trim your stems so that the blooms sprout right above the opening of the bottle and are staggered at different heights.
8. Now is the fun part! Because the bottles are so slender, one or several beautiful blooms will be a perfect compliment. We used an assortment of coral roses, but any type of round blossom with full petals will work wonderfully.
9. At the end of the day, you will want to select stems that stand tall, so they compliment the tall shape of the bottle, but experiment with different styles and textures to find your perfect creation!

SPRING!? ALMOST TIME FOR DIY BRIDES TO PREPARE!

Spring brings so many wonderful things including an endless variety of colorful fresh blooms. It is very close to time for Do It Yourself Brides to begin planning their flower purchase!

You could also use this technique to make your own centerpieces at your bridal shower or wedding. A special thanks to Mayhar design for teaching us the proper technique to make a floral arrangement. There is definitely a method and a skill set involved in creating a lovely arrangement.

Event Design: Mayhar
Tips to keep in mind:
When selecting your “ingredients” you want to pick a variety of types, textures and colors that offer diversity but also compliment each other. I love to use leafy greens as my space fillers, “pods” or berries to add interest & charm, and deliberately selected flowers to create beautifully colored focal points. If you are feeling intimidated by the process and nervous about your selections, always ask a florist for advice. You just may learn some wonderful new tricks! Read on to learn how to make our own easy floral arrangement.
You will simply need:
1 bunch of seeded eucalyptus
1 bunch of trachelium
1 bunch of dahlias
1 bunch of berzelia berries
1 small vase
Scissors or flower shears
1. Start with your leafy seeded eucalyptus. Trim the stems so that the seeds start right at the top of your vase and droop lightly over the edges. You will want to pull the majority of the leaves from the stem, as it decreases the cluttered leafy look and allows space for your flowers.
2. Next, clip your berzelia berry stems so that they extend 3-4 inches over the vase. Evenly disperse them throughout the eucalyptus. They should be slightly shorter and more rigid than the flimsy greens.
3. Do the same with the trachelium. The key is to fill in the blank holes and create various levels and dimensions throughout the arrangement. You want to see different textures and colors both internally and externally, throughout the arrangement.
4. Finish up by placing the brightly colored dahlias strategically throughout the vase.
5. Now, make your final tweaks. You may want to pull various stems out a bit, or push certain pieces back towards the center, depending on how tight of an arrangement you prefer.

TIPS FOR DIY BRIDAL BOUQUETS

1. Ordering. This bouquet can be easily put together with a bulk order of white & green mixed roses and white ranunculus from wholesale flowers to the public (http://www.sunglowflowers.com/). It’s important to do your homework. You need to ensure that the flowers you’re planning to recieve will be available at the time that you want them (if you’re picking things out months in advance) and that they’ll still be the same price (prices can change based on what’s in season) at the time you order. Timing is also something to keep in mind. Call Anne at SungGlow Flowers, 1-888-591-7122 to visit about your best options. She is very knowledgeable and enjoys helping DIY Brides plan their bouquets! Flexibility is also something to consider.
2. Delivery & Storage. When your flowers are delivered, they’re typically not opened up yet. You don’t want to order things too late and  they’re not opened up when they need to be, but you also don’t want them to be past their prime on the Big Day. For example if flowers are delivered on Tuesday, arranged on Thursday, they are ready for a Saturday wedding. Flowers also need to be refridgerated both before and after arranging, and take up a lot of room. The lower temps will help ensure that the flowers don’t open up too early, and keep them  fresh. Also, SunGlow requires be available when the flowers are delivered.  The stems will also need trimmed, and everything will need to be put in water.
3. Don’t put yourself in a time crunch. Have your family and wedding party help with the assembly. Have a wine and cheese party and consider presenting them each with a memento of this fun occasion! Maybe have enough flowers for them to each take home a bouquet for their homes. Maybe include inexpensive vases you found at a flea market. I found some interesting and CHEAP ones here: http://www.cb2.com/mini-bud-vases/f4112.

DIY DAISEY WREATH!

Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul.
Luther Burbank

Flowers have the power to communicate many emotions, one of which is love.  Heart-shaped wreaths of flowers have many uses: they can be hung on doors or walls, laid on a table for a centerpiece, or propped on an easel at a wedding or other event. They are fun and easy to create at home.

  1. Supplies

instant floral foam heart wreath form
    water-filled buckets,
    fresh daisies
    assorted fresh greens
    florist's knife
If you want to hang the wreath or add a bow, you will also need 18-gauge floral wire and ribbon.

    Preparing to Design the Wreath
    • Immerse the instant floral foam heart wreath form in a bucket or sink filled with water. The form should consist of a plastic, heart-shaped frame containing floral foam. Soak the form until the floral foam is fully saturated. Using a florist's knife, cut the stems of all flowers and greens at a sharp angle. Place them in water-filled buckets.

Filling the Wreath with Flowers and Greenery

    • Begin inserting greens into the floral foam. Place greenery around the perimeter of the heart, angling it down slightly so the plastic frame of the wreath will be hidden. Select flowers one at a time, cut their stems to the desired length and insert them into the heart. Place them on the front and on all sides. Insert the stems of both greens and flowers in the foam to a depth of at least 1 1/2 inches. This will ensure they remain hydrated. Cover all of the exposed foam with flowers and greens.

Embellishing and Displaying the Floral Heart

    • If you wish to include a bow or ribbon in the wreath, wrap it with 18-gauge floral wire, position it where desired, and poke the wire into the foam. If you want to hang the wreath on a door or wall, attach some of the floral wire to the plastic frame in the back of the wreath form. Use the wire to support the wreath from a hook or nail.

    Helpful Hints

    • Use small flowers with round shapes, such as roses, carnations, daisies, ranunculus and orchid blooms. These flowers work better in a heart-shaped wreath than long, tall flowers such as larkspur or delphinium. When you insert flowers and greenery into the floral foam, do not let the stems show. You only want to see the heads of the flowers emerging from the heart. This will require that you cut the stem of each flower or piece of greenery before you insert it. For an elegant look, eliminate greenery from the heart and just use all one type or color of flower. For example, you may uses only roses in red, pink, and orange, or use yellow daisies exclusively.

COUNTRY CASTLE WEDDING VENUE IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI

Twenty minutes west of Springfield Missouri, thirty seconds off the highway, I turned onto the corner of The Edge Of Nowhere and Nowhere. Miles and miles, acre after acre of beautiful, time forgotten country!
I took these pictures on the way to the castle. Lazy and peaceful, calm and clean. These llamas were thrilled to death to have a visitor! I saw many more deer than people. The people in the three cars I passed greeted me like a long lost old friend.

Turning through a beautiful gate I entered a long, winding gravel driveway. At the end was a surprise for sure!
There was a very small bridal show going on. There were brides and photographers everywhere. Only one vendor was represented for a bakery, caterer, photographer and florist. I enjoyed the time there so much.

A perfect place for Do It Yourself brides and all other party throwers!

Somehow the details of the castle are whimsical and classy at the same time. Happy happy, feel good vibes.

There are several well appointed ante rooms and bedroom/sitting areas with small kitchens. Fit for a king and queen!
There are nothing but fields and forests for as far as I could see. There was a hot air balloon in the back, ready for a romantic trip around The Middle of Nowhere. Peaceful and quiet except for the occasional blast of hot air.

Of course on the way back to Wherever, I had to stop in and visit the folks at the country store on the aforementioned corner! Boy, am I ever glad I did! I met some hysterically interesting people! And discovered a fantastic nature photographer. Matt Miles has a photo blind set up within walking distance of this little store.

DIY BRIDES! THINK RICH, DARK, TEXTURED BOUQUETS FOR FALL!

If you want wedding flowers that reflect the fall, your options are gorgeous and stylish!

The hottest trend in fall  wedding flowers is lush, richly hued arrangements with lots of interesting texture. Start with a base of classic flowers and mix in feathery lamb's ear leaves to make the arrangements more remarkable. Velvety coxcomb (below) add wonderful texture. Or you could add non-floral accents such as viburnum or hypericum berries, lotus pods or fiddlehead ferns. Use that Do It Yourself Imagination! The combinations are endless!!
Although texture is key, classic flowers still rule for fall weddings. Use autumn hues or go with more unexpected colors like aubergine, copper, and forest green. Lush, elegant dahlias may be the quintessential fall blossom since they come in all the autumnal tones.
Of course, roses will always be popular and are available in any shade you can imagine!

DIY Headpieces Using Fresh Flowers

We are excited about the fact that the contemporary bride is returning to the natural look. The simple & fresh style is the trendiest right now in weddings & bridal looks. However, this trend seems to be in a tight competition with the glamorous style. Both the simple and sophisticated styles are in for this year’s weddings and this is why making the final choice is so difficult. But we are convinced that you Do It Yourself Brides, with all your DIY creativity will find the right fit for your personality.
You as a DIY Bride have more freedom to choose whatever items and colors you like. Choose something unique to your personality. You can narrow down your choices by considering the wedding theme, formality, season, location and style. If you want to spend your day in a more relaxing way, go for the casual outdoors style.

We are big fans of this type of decoration and we recommend it to all modern brides who feel like being themselves on their wedding day. We advise modern brides to stay close to their natural look and choose something soft for their makeup and something wild and messy for their hair. These qualities are ideal for the boho-chic style.
