For decorations, use what you have on hand! Being DIYers, we can in the summer and have lots of jars for candles. We like to hang them from tree branches! Save money on flowers by buying them in bulk from www.sunglowflowers.com, then place them in vessels that you already own. Order greenery or use greenery from a nearby forest like you see in the picture. You can even decorate old coffee cans or glass jars with decorative paper to create beautiful vases for centerpieces and candle holders. I recently painted green bean cans the local high school colors for centerpieces and silverware containers for my son's graduation party! They looked great with raffia bows!
Considering a menu, think about homemade Italian food. It is very tasty and filling! Find an old family recipe of yours or a friend's family. Italian bread is inexpensive and everyone loves it dipped in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Delicious! And also very inexpensive! Shopping at membership warehouse stores such as Costco or Sam's Club will allow you to purchase a larger amount of food for less money.
For drinks, compare prices of wines at your local grocery and membership stores. Check online for wines that are on sale or good tasting and affordable. We love to mix up a lovely sangria using inexpensive wine, ginger ale or a lemon-flavored soda, and fruit that makes up a large batch of tasty drinks to serve for very little money
